나는 인물과 숲, 동물과 식물, 그리고 상상 속 존재인 Moa를 그린다. 서로 다른 존재들이 한 공간 안에서 만나고, 각자의 모습으로 머물거나 관계를 만들어가는 장면에 관심이 있다.
‘Branch’는 하나의 이미지에서 시작된 작업이 다른 존재와 장면으로 가지를 뻗듯 이어지는 나의 작업 방식에서 시작되었다. 인물을 그리던 작업은 숲과 식물, 동물로 이어졌고, 그 안에서 현실에는 없는 존재 Moa가 태어났다.
숲은 이들이 함께 살아가는 하나의 세계다. 그곳에서 Moa는 숲을 돌아다니고, 낯선 것을 발견하고, 때로는 쉬어가며 조금씩 자신의 세계를 넓혀간다. 앞으로 Moa가 만나는 존재와 장소도 계속 달라질 것이다.
나는 하나의 시리즈를 완성하고 다음 작업으로 넘어가기보다, 이전 그림에서 생겨난 이미지와 이야기를 다음 그림으로 이어간다. 그렇게 인물에서 숲으로, 숲에서 Moa로, 다시 또 다른 존재로 가지를 뻗어가며 Branch의 세계를 만들어가고 있다.
숲과 식물은 다른 존재와 장면이 머무는 공간이다. 인물에서 시작된 작업은 나무와 바람, 빛의 움직임으로 이어지며 하나의 풍경으로 확장된다.
I paint people, forests, animals, plants, and Moa, an imagined being. I am interested in scenes where different beings meet within a shared space, each remaining distinct while forming relationships with others.
Branch began as a way of working: an image gives rise to another being or scene, extending like a branch. What began with figures moved into forests, plants, and animals. Within that world, Moa emerged as a being that does not exist in reality.
The forest is a world these beings inhabit together. Moa wanders through it, discovers unfamiliar things, and sometimes rests, gradually widening its world. The beings and places Moa encounters will continue to change.
Rather than completing one series and moving on to the next, I carry images and stories from earlier paintings into new ones. From figures to forests, from forests to Moa, and onward to other beings, I continue to grow the world of Branch.
Forests and plants are spaces where other beings and scenes dwell. What began with figures extends into the movement of trees, wind, and light, expanding into a landscape.
